Obeying the will of God

When God has placed a call on your life, it is important that you obey. In the life of Jonah, God shows us how important it is for us to obey; for Jonah was called by God to go to Nineveh and minister the word of the Lord to a wicked people, but he chose not to obey the call. Therefore, God put him in the belly of a great fish to ponder this mission again. In essence, what God really did was put him in a place of affliction. Jonah 2:2 say’s “And I cried by reason of my affliction unto the Lord, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heard my voice”. You see God brought about trouble in the life of Jonah, to get him to do what he had been told to do. Could God have chosen someone else? Sure he could; However God calls who He calls. Therefore, my take home message is, when God places a purpose and ministry on your heart, it is in your best interest to obey. We don’t want God to put us on a bed of affliction, or cause someone we love to be put in a place of affliction…sickness-financial ruin-divorce-mental illness-legal trouble…etc. All because we wouldn’t obey the call of God; if he doesn’t use me can he use someone else to get the job done? Sure he can; but he called you and there is something specific that He placed in you to get the job done. Remember, we all are unique in some way to God, not one of us even have the same fingerprint; surely he placed something in you that no-one else around you has, because you are fearfully and wonderfully made.
