Let This Mind Be In You-Part 2

The second attribute we see in (Phil 2:7) as it pertains to the mind of Christ, is He had a mind to serve.  The scripture says “He took upon him the form of a servant”.  Jesus didn’t come to be served, He came to serve.  In fact, (St. Mark 10:45) says “For even the son of man came not to be ministered unto but to minister, and give his life a ransom for many”.  Thus, if we as Christians are to have the mind of Christ, we must become well acquainted with serving; even the word minister means servant or to serve.  All who call themselves Christians are servants of God, meaning we are all ministers whether we carry an official church title or not.  Many believers associate the term “minister” with pulpit ministry, when that is not always the case.  You see God needs somebody to feed the hungry, to visit the sick, to provide food and shelter to the homeless; He needs somebody to clean the bathrooms at the church, somebody to mop the floors…etc; you see that’s ministry as well.  Additionally, Jesus gave us probably one of the greatest examples of servant-hood when He washed the disciples feet in (St. John 13:5); and then he told them “If I then, your Lord and master, have washed your feet; ye ought also to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you” (St. John 13: 14-15).  Thus, if Jesus rolled up his sleeves and served, we must be willing to get a little dirty for Jesus sake as well.  Somehow today it is assumed that everybody who is called to the ministry, is called to preach (Pulpit ministry), however, God didn’t call us all to preach, but He did call all of us to serve; and if you are not willing to serve, but you are looking to be served, you need to check the motives of your heart; for service is one of the attributes of the mind of Christ.

                                    God Bless You.
