(ST. Luke 11:13) says “If ye then, being evil know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?”
In essence Jesus was saying to the disciples even though you are evil, you know how to give good gift to your children. However, the gift that the heavenly Father gives is better; that gift being the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the gift that keeps on giving. The Holy Spirit gives us discernment as it relates to what is and what is not of God; the Holy Spirit knows what God wants to hear when we pray; thus, without Him we wouldn’t know how to pray. (Rom 8:26) says “Likewise the Spirit helps our infirmities for we know not what we should pray as we ought: but the Spirit itself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” The Holy Spirit convicts us when we are wrong and it also allows the believer to receive the love of God as well as give it to others. Finally, the Holy Spirit gives us joy-peace-faith-goodness-meekness-temperance and yes even longsuffering. These fruit come through the Holy Spirit. In fact, there are so many other things which the Spirit does for us that it would be hard to capture it all. However, at the end of the day I know it is the gift that keeps on giving and thank God for that.
God Bless You.
