The Fight Within The Believer

As Christians we have to understand that saying the sinner’s prayer and receiving Jesus Christ as Lord and savior is the genesis (beginning) of the salvation process.  In order to grow in Christ, stay saved and maximize your potential in Christ Jesus, you are going to have to constantly remind that old nature of who is in charge.  Everyday you must serve notice to the old sinful nature that the Holy Spirit lives in you now and the old nature must submit to the power of God.  Too often we like to believe that once we get saved we somehow have it going on.  However, if you don’t remind your flesh of who is in control, your flesh (old nature) will rise up and take over when you least expect it; and at the end of the day, we can’t afford to let the old nature have the preeminence. Hence, we must understand that there is a fight going on inside of the believer and to whom you submit to will be the one who reigns victorious in your life. The Apostle Paul understood this fight within us, when he said “For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate that do I” (Rom 7:15 KJV).  Thus, Paul was saying there were times when he didn’t understand the struggle within; which is a fight between the flesh and the Spirit for the right to control your soul.  This struggle sometimes created confusion, tension even anguish in the life of the believer.  However, we know that Paul eventually got the victory over the old nature, and we too can have that same victory and win the fight within, if we will submit fully to the will of God.

                        God Bless You.
