(Exo 29) spends a lot of time talking about the consecration of the priest’s in Israel. However, there is one scripture in particular which speaks loud and clear about what God expects from his ministers. (Exo.29:20) “Then thou shalt kill the ram and take his blood, and put it upon the right ear of Aaron, and upon the tip of the right ear of his sons and upon the thumb of their right hand, and upon the great toe of their right foot and sprinkle the blood upon the altar round about.” Thus, God expects his ministers, to have three very important characteristics. The first one would be that God’s ministers must have an ear which is sensitive to the voice of the Spirit. Hence, he that hath an ear let him ear what the Spirit is saying to the church; which is a type of the blood placed upon the right ear. Secondly, they must understand how to handle the word of God. Thus, they must know how to apply the scriptures to their lives, as well as, the lives of others effectively; which is a type of the blood placed upon the right thumb. Finally, they must be balanced according to the word. Thus, there must be a balance in their lives, as well as, their congregation. Their life can’t be at the church 24-7, there must be a time of rest, a time of recharging your physical and spiritual body, because a tired, worn out, over-worked leader, eventually will be no use to his/her congregation. As a result, the man/woman of God must learn to get away at times, and they must have spiritually competent help if they are to stay balanced; this is a type of the blood placed upon the right great toe.
God Bless You.
