The most hated sin in the Kingdom of God is idolatry. The reason for that is because whatever becomes your Idol becomes your focus or purpose for living at the present time; not to mention, that God is now in second or third place in your life. There are many examples of this…if your finances are what you spend the most time thinking about-it not only becomes that which worries you but it has also become your idol. If you are single and most of your thought process is spent thinking about getting a spouse, that has become your idol. If you are a parent and all of your time is dominated with trying please your kids or make them happy, that has become your idol. Furthermore, people who constantly think about the material things they possess in this life, such as a house or cars-etc, these things can also become your idol. In fact, your favorite TV show, if it takes away from your God time, can become your idol. (1 John 5:21), says “Little children, keep yourselves from idols, Amen”. When God spoke this word to Apostle John, He wasn’t speaking to the world; He was speaking to Christians, because believers were focusing on every-thing but God. We have all been guilty of this at one time or another in our lives, but as we grow in the grace of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ, it must not continue to be something that’s practiced in our lives because our God is a jealous God, and a consuming fire, and he will have no other God before him.
God Bless You.
