Being that the heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked I thought it would be good to talk about some conditions of the heart from the perspective of the parable of the sower in (St. Mark 4:1-20). The first condition of the heart which (St. Mark 4) speaks of is the wayside heart. This is the heart where the word of God is sown, but this heart is not ready to receive; it hadn’t been cultivated to receive the word of God. Thus, it is unplowed and unprepared. This is a heart which is so deep in the world that after the word is heard, Satan has the ability to come forth and take the word which we just heard from our hearts without us even putting up a fight to hold or retain what we heard. This wayside heart is a heart which sits in church on Sunday morning and allows the teaching to go in one ear and right out of the other without any thought given to it. The wayside heart is the heart which hears the word but the word is forgotten before the benediction. Thus, this is not a heart which will receive Jesus at all. The parable of the sower is really an earthly story with a heavenly meaning, and the soil condition is really a picture of our hearts. So let me ask you child of God, what condition is your heart in when it comes to hearing and receiving the truth of the word of God?
God Bless You
