“Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous; for praise is comely to the upright” (Psalm 33:1).
The scripture tells us to “rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous”: meaning the believer is to renew their joy in the Lord on a daily basis. With all the challenges and difficulties we face from one to the next renewing our joy or rejoicing is important to our life of praise. Even as the Lord gives us new mercy every morning, our praise for that same morning should be new. Hence, the praise we had on yesterday won’t be good enough to take us through today; we should be seeking God for a new praise. The praise of God is so important in our lives because it is comely to the upright. Thus, praise is a beautiful thing coming from the heart of the believer; praise sounds good coming out of our mouth when it is directed to the Lord; praise looks good on us; praise will change how we look at life, and how we feel about ourselves. Praising the Lord brings the light of God into a dark situation, turns pessimism into optimism, and moves a person from a state of fear and depression to a state of hope and faith. Praise moves us from the state of being conquered by our enemy to more than a conqueror. One song writer said “Yes it is true praise looks good on you”, and true praise is only reserved for the upright. So as you arise from your bed from day to day, as the Lord gives you a new mercy, don’t forget to ask him for the new praise you’re going to need for today, because yes it is true praise looks good on you, and the Devil can’t stand it. However, there isn’t much he can do about it either.
God Bless You
