“Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment” (1 Cor 1:10).
The apostle Paul shares with the church his idea of team ministry. He gives us three key components for success in team ministry. The first one is we should speak the same thing: this doesn’t mean that everything which comes out of our mouth will be the exact same words as someone else on our team. However, there should be some critical components of the team, that when spoken by each member of the team, those that hear, who are not on the team, would walk away with an understanding that those Christians on that team are speaking the same thing. Thus, their doctrine is the same; their beliefs are the same…etc. Secondly, the apostle Paul states that there should be no divisions among us: meaning that we who are on the team trying to accomplish something for the Lord shouldn’t allow anything to come between us or separate us. If there is a problem we should be able to talk about it, and come to a conclusion where God is glorified and we all grow from it. Finally, that we be perfectly joined together in the same mind and judgment: thus, my definition of that is we must be unified in all things. We can’t allow the world, the flesh or the devil to divide and conquer. In fact, we must be willing to defend each other and not allow lies and false accusations to come against team members. We must be willing to support each other. It doesn’t mean we will always agree, neither does it mean we will always get our way, however, the things which are core to the team we must agree.
