We have often heard the phrase you look just like your daddy, or you’re going to be just your daddy was. Thus, if daddy was a womanizer it’s possible that we could be, if daddy was a alcoholic there was a possibility that we would become the same, if daddy was no good it was a distinct possibility that would be our plight. On the other hand, if momma or daddy loved God, if momma or daddy were people of faith it’s also possible that the gift of faith and a love of God could be instilled in us as well. In essence that’s what Apostle Paul saw in young Timothy, he saw a young man of faith. He saw a young man who had a mother and grandmother that deposited some Godly values in this young man from a very young age. In fact, he says to the young Timothy “When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first with thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded with thee also (1 Tim. 1:5).”
What Paul was really testifying to was he saw how well Timothy’s mother and grandmother raised him because he was a man full of faith, and he saw this faith first in generations before him. Thus, his parent’s were more concerned about instilling Godly values in him than they were of who his new girlfriend is, or whether or not he got the latest toys to play with, or whether or not he got everything he desired. Thus, Parent’s I leave you with this: Are you instilling the right values in your kids while you still have time because once they leave your house you will never have that type of control again. Therefore, get in agreement with God now about what you should be instilling into the hearts of your kids because the things that will last and cause them to be successful is how much of God are they placing into the equation of their lives.
God Bless You.
