The Furnace of Affliction

If it had not been for trouble in our lives many of us would have never turned to God. If it had not been for some serious adversity, many of us would not have even looked Gods way. However, trouble in our lives will cause us to take a look at where we’re going-what we’re doing and where we’ve been. Trouble will make us examine everything about ourselves. And because God knew that we would never look His way as long as everything was going great in our lives, He allowed the enemy to lead us into a furnace of affliction so we would have to call on Him to bring us out. In fact, (Isa. 48:10) says “Behold, I have refined thee but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction. Thus, it is in the furnace of affliction where we start looking for God, when it seems all hell is breaking loose in our lives, where the fires of trouble are turned up hotter than we would have ever imagined; where we look to our right and there’s no help, we look to the left and there’s no help, we look behind us and there’s no help, until finally we begin to look to the hill from whence cometh our help, because all our help comes from the Lord which made heaven and earth (Psalm 121: 1-2). God allows our enemy to put us in a place where we have run out of answers and our only solution is God. It is in the furnace of affliction where He chooses us; because finally God has gotten our undivided attention that we now might make the choice to choose Him. Trouble can make us or break us; hopefully it will make us into what God would have us to be.

God Bless You!
