A true friend is one that will love you in spite of. A true friend will be there for you during the good and bad times. A true friend can talk to you even when the conversation you all are about to have is a difficult conversation indeed. In fact, a true friend will tell us the truth about ourselves when everybody else is afraid to because others are afraid of hurting our feelings. But the truth is that God knows that if we are going to become what He would have us to be sometimes our feelings will need to be hurt to get us to look at the truth about ourselves. Thus, we ought to thank God for real friends. True friends don’t come around often; true friends are not found in very many places, thus, if you got one don’t forget to say thanks for the good, as well as, the hard conversations, because it’s in the hard conversations where we find whether our friendship is true or not.
It’s true that there is no friend like Jesus but though we feel him in our hearts; though we know He is real, He is not someone we can reach out and touch, and sometimes we need someone we can touch, someone that will put their arms around us and tell us it will be okay, and then give us the tough love we still need to hear. In talking about this true friend the writer of (Proverbs 27:5-6) put it this way “Open rebuke is better than secret love. Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.” Hence, be a true friend; don’t give someone a kiss on the cheek and tell them how good they look and how well they are doing only to turn around and blast them in the company of someone else, because that’s not a true friend that’s a so called friend with a Judas kiss which will eventually become the kiss of an enemy.
God Bless You
