Some of the most powerful times of a Christian’s life; some of the most intimate times with God are when we are going through times of adversity. A great example of this is David’s mighty men of valor who joined him in service to God in the midst of difficult times. (1 Sam 22:2) says “And everyone that was in distress, and everyone that was in debt, and everyone that was discontented gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men.” Thus, these men understood that they had problems, they understood that they had multiple situations going on in their lives but they joined themselves to a man who was seeking God, who loved God and who at least early on had the solution to their problems, and that solution was to serve God regardless of your trouble.
If anyone had a reason to quit and throw in the towel it was David. For this was a man that was on the run from the king; this was a man who was running for his life. This was a man who was on the most wanted list simply because he was anointed and appointed by God, and the jealousy and rage in King Saul wanted him dead; but nevertheless David served God with all his might, and it was that faithful service to God in the midst of his circumstances that caused others to join him in his quest for God, not to mention they became powerful men of God in the process. With that said, let men encourage you to continue to press your way and serve the Lord even in the most difficult of circumstances because it’s that press and service that will cause others to stand up and take a stand based upon how they have seen you live.
God Bless You.
