As the Lord prepared to rain fire and brimstone on the wicked city of Sodom and Gomorrah, he commanded Lot and his family to leave if they wanted to live. As they were leaving he told them “look not behind thee” (Gen 19:17); in other words, don’t look back. However, we know his wife didn’t heed the word of the Lord, and as she left the city she looked back and became a pillar of salt. Hence, child of God we too must heed the warning of God, “don’t look back” especially looking back and reminiscing and celebrating sinful times. We must understand that for Lot’s wife to look back, was to look back on the days of evil, wickedness and sin in Sodom and Gomorrah. Her prosperity was in front of her, she had her kids, her husband and her God in front of her.
We often think that those days of sin were good, but if we examine those days verses the life which we live in Christ Jesus now, we will find that life in Christ is so much better. Child of God every now and then we peek into our past because it allows us to be grateful for our present; however, your best days are in your present, your best days are in your future. In fact, your best days in Christ Jesus are yet to come. Therefore, don’t waste a lot of time looking back at your past (and all the mistakes you made) because those who spend too much time looking back at (sinful days) are no good for kingdom work. Even Jesus said “Any man having put his hand to the plough and looking back is not fit for the kingdom of God” (ST. Luke 9:62). Therefore, saints let’s live in our present and walk with God into our future.
God Bless You.
