Six Traits Of A Godly Leader-Part 4

July 12, 2010

(1Tim 4:12) says “Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity”.

The fourth trait of a Godly leader is he/she must be an example in spirit. To be an example in spirit is to be a leader or Christian who has the proper attitude. By proper attitude I mean are you someone who isn’t so easily offended when someone needs to talk to you about you? Or are you someone that’s easily offended? Are you someone that can receive constructive criticism and not lash out at the person who is genuinely sharing with you? To be an example in spirit is to be someone that’s stable, someone, as Apostle Paul says is steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord; it is someone who you can trust to be just as solid on Monday as they would be on Sunday. Thus, to be an example in spirit allows others to see the Holy Spirit operating through you. It allows the fruit of the Spirit to be evident in your life, but it all begins with each leader making up in their mind that they are going to have an attitude of righteousness.

Six Traits Of A Godly Leader-Part 3

(1Tim 4:12) says “Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

The third trait a Godly leader needs is charity. This word charity is another word for love. Thus, if a leader is going to lead effectively he/she needs love for their fellowman, whether they are saved or not. Because there is an old saying that people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. We know this is true because Jesus cared for the Church and the world so much that He died for it. For (Rom. 5:8) says “For God commended his love toward us in while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.” Thus he initiated love toward us even though we didn’t have the same affection for him, and that’s how God’s leaders must be. We must be willing to become initiators of love even upon the people who don’t care very much for us because that’s what God would do .Therefore to serve effectively we must love people or we will serve them halfheartedly or not at all and that’s not the legacy the Lord would have us to leave in the earth.

Six Traits Of A Godly Leader-Part 2

(1Tim 4:12) says “Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

The second trait that a Godly leader should have according to Apostle Paul’s letter to Timothy is he/she must be an example in conversation: This word conversation has more to do with our actions than it does our words. It’s much more about our conduct than anything else because actions often speak louder than words. Thus, a Godly leader or a Christian in general must examine and monitor their conduct on an ongoing basis. We can never take a day off; we can never forget who we are and act in a way that’s not pleasing to God. Jesus was so serious about a believers conduct that he said in (1 Pt 1:15-16) “But as he which has called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; because it is written, be ye Holy; for I am Holy”. This call for us to be holy in all manner of conversation or conduct is not optional. We can’t decide that we want to be holy when it suits us or when Sunday morning comes around we want to put on our holy suit. But this is required living in order to get into heaven. Therefore, if you are in the body of Christ living a life that is sanctified and set apart unto the Lord is a must.

Six Traits Of A Godly Leader-Part 1

(1Tim 4:12) says “Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

The Apostle Paul writes to a young man of God by the name of Timothy and he tells him in so many words that if he is going to lead there are some characteristics which he must have. He starts out with telling him that he must be an example to the believers. However, there are at least two examples that we can be to believers and they are either Godly or ungodly. But Apostle Paul was encouraging this young man to be Godly. He starts out telling him that he must be an example in Word: Meaning that he is to take heed to what comes out of his mouth. He is to guard his tongue and only speak as the Spirit of God leads him to speak. It is important that a leader or believer monitor what comes out of their mouths because when you say something that’s ungodly to someone you can never get it back, even after you have asked for forgiveness and did everything to make things right with the person or people you have offended. The tongue is a little member but it does some major damage in the body of Christ to relationships. Thus, we must learn to tame the tongue through the power of the Holy Spirit. In fact, it can only be done through the power of the Holy Spirit because James said “The tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison (James 3:8)”. Therefore let us who do know our God be an example in word.

When you are blessed by God

July 5, 2010

When the Lord blesses you it is then that you can truly say you have been blessed. (Prov. 10:22) says “The blessings of the Lord maketh rich and he adds no sorrow with it”. Therefore when the Lord blesses you with the house, or the car, or any other material thing you will not have to worry about how you’re going to pay for it. Neither do you have to worry about if you’re going to be able to keep it because when the Lord leads you to purchase an item or spend your hard earned dollars, He leads you with wisdom. God doesn’t lead you out to buy more than you can afford and expect you to have faith that He will make a way for you to pay for it, that’s utter foolishness. However, He will lead you to spend within your means and allow you to get what you need and some of what you want, so when it is all said and done you are very pleased. I often have believers tell me that the Lord blessed them with this-that and the other, but the whole time they’re worrying about whether they can make the next payment. They get loans at crazy interest rates and have the nerve to say it was God. They will even go to payday lending, borrow some money at 50% interest and tell you it was God; that is not God, that is not the abundant life that He has promised us. It is true that we will have hard times and in hard times we have to look to our heavenly Father, but when the Lord blesses, your sleep is peaceful, when the Lord blesses, you never lose sleep over whether you’re able to keep what God has given you because if He gave it to you and you are living for Him, He is more than able to make a way for you to keep what you got. If He gave you the blessing you never give the blessing another thought other than to say thank you Lord as much as possible. Listen most of us know when it’s God blessing and when it’s not, let’s call it like it is and be wise with our resources because when the Lord does it, it is finished and He adds no sorrow with it.

God Bless You
