With all the bad news we are hearing in the world today, from the terrible economy, to the bad housing market, to the talk of a double dip recession, it makes you wonder if there is any good news out there at all. And if we are not careful, even those who proclaim to know Jesus as Lord and savior can find themselves getting wrapped up in the web of bad news and woe is me type attitudes. However, there is one thing that remains true despite how bad things look, despite the high cost of everything and in spite of the high unemployment rate (which I have certainly experienced in my life) and that is “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever (Heb 13:8)”. In other words, as long as He is still in charge there is hope in spite of what others may think; as long as He doesn’t change, and there is no need for him to change because He is perfect, we who know our God can have hope in the midst of what sometimes seems to be a hopeless situation.
You see the thing that’s interesting about our savior is that He is not at all surprised by the state of the economy. He is not at all surprised by the high unemployment rate. In fact, He is not surprised by anything that’s going on in our world today because if He was he wouldn’t be God. We must understand that some things happen because of the sin and greed of man; some things happen to get mans attention because it’s hard to get mans attention when he is living in the land of milk and honey. It’s hard to get mans attention when he is operating in the good and plenty of his life, but when what he thought he had is gone in a matter of moments then he has to take some time out and consider God. Thus, the good news is God is still the same God who is in control of all, and because He is still in control of all there is still hope.
God Bless You
