According to (Jer. 7:6) the sixth thing the prophet Jeremiah tells Judah is: Don’t shed innocent blood in this place. If they were to be blessed they had to stop sacrificing their children to idols in the house of God. They had to stop killing in the name of the Lord as if they were serving God. God wasn’t impressed with the sacrificing of animals, idols and certainly not loved ones because to obey is always better than sacrifice. What God requires of us is that we obey him? Judah was more impressed by what they gave God at the altar of sacrifice than they were an obedient heart which often times caused them to shed innocent blood.
However, the shedding of innocent blood doesn’t only happen in the Old Testament it still happens even today in the New Testament. Some might say how is that? Every time we hate our brother or our sister, and I’m not talking about your sibling, I’m talking about humanity in general, we shed innocent blood. We know this because (1 John 3:15 KJV) says “Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.” Thus, to hate in God’s eyes is to commit murder and it also puts us in a place where we even kill our own selves spiritually because the one that hates will also be the one that misses out on heaven if they don’t change quickly. Hence, we essentially kill two people. Therefore, let’s be sure we monitor our hearts and look for any hatred that abounds and ask the Lord to assist us in getting it out because it’s clear that hatred won’t be tolerated by God unless it is the thing that He hates and that’s sin.
God Bless You
