(1 John 1:9) says “if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Before there can be real repentance, there must be confession. You see as we confess our sins before God we actually come into agreement with God about our sins. Hence, when we confess our sins before God what we are actually saying is “God I see my sins the way you see them and I’m willing to take responsibility for them.” Thus, because repentance is a spiritual act, it’s going to take a spiritual God to lead you to-and- through repentance. Repentance means to turn away from your sins or a changed mind. Therefore, when we fall into sin we need God to show us our sins as quickly as possible so that we might be able to move back into a right relationship with him; thus shortening our reaping days; because once we see our sins as God sees them, he is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. However, before we can possess repentance we must confess our sins unto God. God needs to know that we understand what we did and how it affects us as well as others.
God Bless You
