(Heb 4:12) says “For the word of God is quick and powerful and sharper than any two-edge sword. Piercing even the dividing asunder of the soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
The word of God is the lifeline of every Christian. In fact, you shouldn’t be able to separate the two. (Heb 4:12) tells us that the word of God is alive (quick) active and energizing (powerful) to all those who would believe, apply and obey the word of God. The thing that’s so fascinating about the word of God is not how much you can quote (although I’m not against it) or even how well you can preach it, but how much of this word can you live. Because what’s going to please God is how much of the word were you able to live, not what you were able to preach.
Further, the fascinating thing about the word of God is that it cuts right down to the heart of the matter. If you allow the word of God to work in you, it will burn up anything in you that’s not like God, down to your very soul, spirit and even the joints and marrow. Child of God this word is so powerful that God ask Jeremiah “Is not my word like a fire? Saith the Lord; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces.”
Thus, as this word enters into us, and we allow it to work in us, it breaks up that stony heart and seeks to destroy all ungodliness in us.
Finally, this word is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart; hence, it’s the word which we will be judged by down to the thoughts and the very intentions of our heart; it’s the word of God that will speak for you or against you as it pertains to whether or not you really lived this Christian life. God didn’t give us this word just so we could walk around with a little knowledge, but he gave it to us because it is the standard by which we will be judged and of course by which we must live. Thus, it will speak.
God Bless You
