God Ordained Leadership

May 31, 2011

All leadership is ordained by God whether good or bad. Thus, from the president of the United States of America to your local city mayor they were all placed by the hand of God. However, if Christians desire to see certain people in office it behooves us to vote because God has given us that right. We know that leadership, whether saved or unsaved is ordained by God because (Rom 13:1) says “Let every soul be subject to the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained by God.”

Hence, it’s not our responsibility to complain about our leaders. However, it is our responsibility to pray for them. It is our responsibility to pray that God would touch the heart of that leader so he/she would lead in the way of righteousness. It is up to the believer to intercede on the behalf of our leaders because if we don’t no one else will. Child of God, it’s easy to sit back and second guess the decisions of our leaders (spiritual or secular).

However, until you have sat in that seat or walked in their shoes, you will never-never understand neither the weight nor the responsibility of the call or position which they are in. Therefore, pray saints; pray that God would have the last word in all decisions, from the White House, to God’s House, to your house.

The Lord Will Remember You

May 26, 2011

Just because God doesn’t move when we ask him to, it doesn’t mean he didn’t hear us. Neither does it mean he won’t’ eventually deliver us. Because he is God, he moves in his time; in fact, God doesn’t see time the way we see it because everything with God is in the present time. There is no past or future with God because he knows all-sees all and understands all right now.

Thus, saints when you pray and ask God in faith, God will remember you. The life of Rachel (Jacob’s wife) was a prime example of that. Rachel wanted to bear children, but could not. However, she had to watch Leah (Jacob’s other wife-Old Testament) produce child after child. God knew that Rachel wanted to bear children, he knew she wanted to bless Jacob with sons; however, it didn’t happen for her right away. But in the fullness of time, (Gen 30:22) says “And God remembered Rachel, and God hearkened to her and opened her womb.”

Hence, God hadn’t forgotten about her request; he hadn’t forgotten about her blessing, and child of God he hadn’t forgot about you. There may be something you have asked the Lord for and it seems as if it will never happen. Well let me tell you something, be patient and wait on the Lord, because the Lord will remember you and come through for you if you remain faithful to him. Don’t give up on your God or your blessing because we serve a God that desires to bless us. Be encouraged and wait patiently.

One Body

May 25, 2011

Those of us who have confessed Jesus Christ as Lord and savior are one in the body of Christ. There is no big “I” or little you, but we are one in Christ Jesus. We may have different gifts, different administrations and even different operations; however, they all flow out of the same spirit, which is the Holy Spirit according to (1st Cor 12). Thus, if we are one, we must act like we are one and come together as one church if we are going to see real change in America.

As a body of believers we can’t wait for the politicians to bring about change. In fact, if we expect to see real changes in America, born again believers’ are going to have to lead that change in America. As a body of believers we are going to have to bring our talents-gifts-resources and the Holy Spirit to the table if we expect to see change, regardless of our church affiliation or denomination. We know this change can be realized, because (Prov 29:2) says “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.”

Thus, as we take our rightful place and come together with a single-minded purpose to see our homes-communities-cities and etc. changed, then our nation has the ability to be changed. Finally, how can we expect a few politicians to bring about change when “the earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof.” Hence, on this earth God has strategically placed Christians from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean, from the cornfields of Nebraska to the mountains of North Carolina to bring about Change; and it begins on your knees.

A Shepherd that Provides

May 24, 2011

As I was reading (Psalm 23) I was reminded all over again that though things just seem crazy in this world; though the price of everything continues to rise, even the unemployment rate itself, God is still a God of provision. When David said the “The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want;” that was enough for me. And saints of God in these tough economic times and times of uncertainty, we need to rest in those still waters of the Lord when times of adversity come because if you live long enough you are bound to face some.

King David was so sure that adversity would come that he said “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thus, David understood that when times of adversity came, when chaos was all around, even in the face of death itself, he could lean on the Lord because even in death God is still in control because He has power over death.

We who have confessed Jesus as Lord and savior have a shepherd that provides for us; a shepherd that provides for us in the presence of even our enemies. Saints of God, it’s good sometimes to go back and read again that scripture we all kind of grew up on and receive strength and encouragement in order to continue to press into the things of God because it get’s hard sometime, but (Psalm 23) provides us with some amazing encouragement for the days ahead.

The Promises Of God

May 20, 2011

The Lord has made the believer numerous promises in his word. In (Psalm 91:14-15) the Lord shares with us some of the “I will” promises when he says “Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high because he hath known my name. He shall call upon me and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.”

However, it all starts with our love for God. If we will love God, and love what he loves, there are promises throughout his word which have to manifest themselves in our lives. That’s why love is the root of the fruit of the Spirit. The fruit of the Spirit all grow out of love, and the promises of God manifest themselves through that love.

Furthermore, when God makes a promise he never says “oh my fault, I didn’t mean to say that;” hence, when God makes a promise and we line up in obedience to his word, the promises of God have to come to pass. Therefore, if the promises of God hadn’t been fulfilled in your life, don’t blame the Lord; first of all, understand that your life isn’t over yet and the book is still being written, and finally, take a look at yourself because the Lord always comes through when we obey.

Rejoice, Be Patient And Pray

May 19, 2011

The Christian should “Rejoice in hope; be patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer (Rom 12:12).
This is advice which every believer should follow. As a believer in Christ Jesus we should rejoice in hope. Hence, we rejoice in the hope that God will do what he has promised in his word. The believers hope is not a wish that God would do, but an expectancy that if we obey the word of God his promises are yea and amen.

Secondly, we are to be patient in tribulation. Thus, we must go through what we have to go through, and we must be patient with God as he shapes, molds and makes us into what he would have us to be through our trouble. King David said “Wait on the Lord and be of good courage and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait I say on the Lord” (Psalms 27:14). One of the main reasons you would need good courage and a strong heart is to stand and be patient in the midst of trouble as God matures you and brings you to a place of real deliverance.

Finally, we are to be instant in prayer: In other words, prayer should be a part of our lives. We shouldn’t have to make time for prayer, because prayer for the believer should automatically have a place in our lives. Prayer should be as natural to us as eating; hence, we make every effort to fill our bellies with food daily, and we should make the same effort to fill our spirit man with the words of prayer. Child of God, we can’t make it without prayer, so we might as well get comfortable with prayer… it is our life line to Jesus.

Somebody Is Always Watching

May 17, 2011

If Christians believed that God was always watching them, don’t you think that they would be more mindful about the things they say and do when they are alone?

Even in our most personal and intimate moments, God is watching. God said to the prophet Ezekiel “Son of man have thou seen what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in his chambers of his imagery? For they say the Lord seeth us not; the Lord has forsaken the earth”. Somehow the Israelites believed that their secret sins, their secret abominations, their secret idolatrous worship went unnoticed by God. However, nothing get’s past the eyes of God, because his eyes go to and fro throughout the whole earth. And for those who believe they can say and do all the right things on Sunday morning, but can live a secret life of sin and deception at other times, there will be hell to pay if you don’t change.

Hence, it’s not the big foxes that will get believers in trouble; it’s the little foxes that spoil the vine (little sins). Furthermore, it’s not what you do in the light, when everybody is looking that defines your Christianity, it’s what you do when nobody is looking, and it’s just you and the almighty, that defines your Christianity and character. Who are you when nobody else is looking? Michael Jackson said it best in a song he recorded years ago, when he said “I always feel like somebody is watching me”; that is the truth, there is someone watching us all the time, recording our deeds and words, for such a time as judgment day. Ref. (Eze. 8:12)
