Again, the kingdom of Heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field (Matt 13: 44).
The hidden treasure which this parable is talking about is heaven. When a man/woman actually finds this hidden treasure they are willing to give up the world for this treasure. Thus, when sinful man finally finds the Lord and realizes that what he has in his relationship with the Lord is better than anything in this life, he let’s go of the world and the things in the world and sells out to the Lord.
As a result of selling out to the Lord, man forsakes the flesh, the devil and the world in pursuit of a wholehearted relationship with God. It would be nice if more men/women found this hidden treasure in the earth and take on the attitude towards God as the parable speaks of. Too often, we get saved and we never really sell out for the Lord; we never really go all the way for the Lord. However, selling out and giving our all for the Lord is what he requires.
A half-hearted service to God won’t be enough to get us into heaven, and ultimately our plan is to go to heaven if we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and savior. Therefore, to those who have found the hidden treasure (Jesus Christ) let us serve him with our whole heart because that’s the requirement.
God Bless You
