Not Easily Offended

As Christians we must be careful how we handle offense. First we must understand that offense means: a cause or occasion to sin; a stumbling block or a cause to anger. Thus, to be easily offended is to fall into the trap of sin. To be easily offended is to allow sin to become a stumbling block in our lives. We must learn to control and deal with our emotions when it comes to living this Christian life. We must take authority over sin through the power of the Holy Spirit. In fact, when it comes to dealing with being offended, King David said “Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them (Psalm 119:165).”

Thus, because of the peace of God that the Christian has; because they understand that there is a peace which God gives that passes all understanding, they don’t allow themselves to be easily angered. Neither do they allow sin to become a hindrance or stumbling block in their lives. Christians don’t allow sin to be a stumbling block to the degree that it keeps them from getting to heaven because they have learned not to be easily offended.

If we are to be angry or offended by anything it should be the fact that sin seems to be rampant in the world (which it should be because it is the world). However, it is also raising its head more and more in the body of Christ today. Hence, our anger or offense if you will, should be a righteous anger against the Kingdom of Darkness. If we focus our energies and efforts against hell we won’t be so easily offended by others because taking offense can lead you to hell.

God Bless You
