This is the story of the lame man who was carried to the beautiful temple gate daily to ask of Alms (charity) as people passed by. However, on one of those days he discovered two powerful men of God by the name of Peter and John passing by and they fastened their eyes upon him and said “Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I unto thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.” And the rest is history, for the lame man was healed right outside of the temple. Thus, daily we saw this man stuck at the gate hoping that help would soon come.
And the truth is that, that’s where many people are today. They are stuck at the gate of the temple instead of being inside of the temple where real change comes. They are stuck at the gate hoping that someone passing by will provide them with the real help they need. This man didn’t need charity, he needed a life change, and that life change came through a man of God that was not afraid to take notice of a man in need and decree the power of God over his life. Thus, it is incumbent of us as believers to pay attention to the needs of other’s and offer the only real solution to humanity’s problems; the solution being Jesus Christ.
