Apostle Paul gives us a portrait of what the mind of Christ is like when he says in (Phil 4:8) “Finally brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Thus, if we want to operate with the mind of Christ we must start from the perspective of God’s truth and God’s honesty. And a good place to start is to be honest with God about where we are in our relationship with him. Too often we deceive ourselves in believing we are in a place with God that we may not be spiritually, but the truth is that God knows us from the inside out.
However, he desires that we know ourselves from the inside out as well, and a good place to start in coming to know ourselves is found in the truth of God’s word; For it was Jesus who said “If you continue in my word then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free (St. John 8:31-32).” Therefore, if we are to have the mind of Christ, truth and honesty as defined by God is what is required.
