The Spiritual Minded Christian

April 12, 2012

The spiritually minded believer spends a vast majority of time thinking and seeking the things of God. They are also renewed in the spirit of their mind and they tend to walk in communion with God. The spiritually minded believer makes every attempt to obey God in spite of the situation-circumstance or how they feel; their mind is made up to serve God no matter what. Spiritually minded believers know they haven’t arrived; they know they can never have enough of God; hence they are always seeking more and more of Him. Spiritually minded Christians can say as King David said “As the hart that panteth after the water brook so panteth my soul after thee O God” (Psalm 42:1).

One characteristic which is evident in the life of this type of believer is love, and because God is love, if we as Christians don’t have His love we are not truly spiritually minded. At the end of the day, the spiritual man/woman “Sets their affections on things above and not on things of the earth” (Col 3:2). Thus, a spiritually minded man/woman must consistently and persistently examine their relationship with God and be honest about where they are in that relationship.

A Fisherman’s Mentality

April 10, 2012

God has placed in the believer, the gift of a fisherman. A fisherman is one who is able to go out into the deep waters and cast a line or a net and catch fish. Some do it for fun, others for a living, but for the most part they are good at it.

Jesus told the disciples in (ST. Mark 1:17) “come ye after me, and I will make you fishers of men”. Jesus understood that because of the Holy Spirit on the inside of us, that every time we open our mouths and speak the Gospel of Jesus Christ, we have an opportunity to hook a sinner by the heart and reel them in for the Kingdom of God.

God has placed in us the word of reconciliation (2nd Cor. 5:19), that’s the Gospel that we speak for Jesus that causes a man/woman to be reconciled to Christ. As fisherman for Jesus, we put sinners in a location where they are able to have a relationship with Christ. So the question I leave you with is…when is the last time you went fishing?

You’ve Got The Power-3

April 6, 2012

In (Acts 1:8) Jesus says “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
Thus, if we want to be different and really see a change come in our lives we have to commit to obeying God and doing things through the power of the Holy Ghost.

We see this power manifested throughout the scriptures but it’s time that this power be manifested in our homes today. Christ has given us this power to become someone we were not before. Therefore, if you have not been a good husband God has given you the power to change that; to the degree that he is willing to teach you how to love your wife as Christ has loved the Church and gave himself for it.

Wives if you don’t know how to submit to your own husband as unto the Lord there is a power of God that resides in you that’s ready to teach you if you will hear and obey, because to submit yourself to your own husband is to submit yourself to God himself and it releases a power in your home and marriage that you could not have otherwise.

Children if you will believe God there is a power of God that’s ready to teach you how to obey your parent’s in the Lord; and obeying your parent’s in the Lord positions you to be blessed by God. Let’s learn to use the power in our everyday lives because it’s in our daily lives, outside of the Sunday services (where all the masks are worn) where we need this power the most.

You’ve Got The Power-2

April 4, 2012

(St. John 1:11-12) “He came unto his own and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.”

Saints of God, the Lord didn’t give us this power simply so we could be saved and come on to heaven. He gave us this power that we might destroy the works the Devil. And there is an expectation that we would use what He gave us.

We know this is true based upon the parable of the talents (Matt 25:14-30), the money that was given to each servant was to be reproduced or reinvested in the community to bring forth more than what the master had given them initially. Thus, this power that God has given us is to be reproduced in the lives of others so that the power of God can cover more territory and do more damage to the Kingdom of Darkness on a greater scale.

This power is given to us to reproduce Disciples of Christ everywhere. Like the young man that received the one talent and gave his master back only what he received from him, if all we can do is give God back what he gave us we aren’t doing much for God and God called that servant unprofitable. Therefore, let us use this power (authority; the ability to act or produce and effect) to change our environment by winning souls for Christ one heart at a time, and let it start with you.

You’ve Got The Power-1

April 3, 2012

(St. John 1:11-12) “He came unto his own and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.”

Jesus came unto his own people (the Jewish nation) and they received him not. However, he didn’t allow that to discourage him. He simply brought salvation to the gentile world, and as many as would receive him as Lord and Savior and believe on his name, to them gave he power to become the sons of God.

Thus, if you are one of those who have believed and received him as Lord and savior you’ve got the power. This is a very distinguished power; it’s a power not generated by the hands of man but by the Holy Ghost, thus it is the supernatural power of God.

The Apostle John said Jesus has given us power to become the sons of God. Therefore, he has given us the power to become something we never could have on our own. He has given us power to become someone we couldn’t have no matter how hard we tried. He has given us power to become a new creature in Christ Jesus. He has given us power to be different! Power to make a change! Power to make things happen in the earth! Have you as a believer truly tapped into this power yet?
