Jesus told a certain woman in the Gospel of (St. Luke 11:28): “Blessed are they that hear the word of God and keep it.” Thus, to be blessed is to be fortunate, happy or well off. But very often, we don’t think about how blessed we are when we hear the word and walk in obedience to the word. However, Jesus said we are blessed. As Christians, there are times when we look at being blessed through the wrong lens. If we don’t have a certain amount of money, or live in the home we desire, or have the spouse we so desire, or we have the spouse and the marriage may not be working out like we thought it would, or have the type of career we want, we don’t consider ourselves blessed.
However, if we are hearing and obeying the Gospel of Jesus Christ we are blessed because the only way we have the ability to obey the word of God is through the power of the Holy Spirit that lives inside of us and if we have the Holy Spirit living on the inside of us, we are blessed. The truth is that money can’t buy true love, good marriages have ended in divorce, people who once had the career of their dreams are now on the unemployment lines and all the other material things won’t last but the Holy Spirit will be with you until the day you die and in fact, He will never leave you nor forsake you; and when all else is gone what do you really have?
God Bless You
