What’s In Your Heart?

May 29, 2013

Paying close attention to what you let into your heart is important because God’s word says “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me” (Psalm 66:18). The word iniquity is another word for sin, thus iniquity affects our relationship with God; iniquity affects the conversation you might want to have with God, and even more important, the conversation He might want to have with you. Iniquity in the heart affects our relationship with God so much that he said when we call on him he will not hear us. Therefore, let me encourage you to keep a spiritual watch over what you allow to enter or exit your heart because that will certainly affect your relationship with God.

When A Friend Is Not A Friend

May 23, 2013

True friends are hard to come by. In fact, one song writer said “Friends how many of us have them”, not many I dare say. Saints of God true friends will be with you through the good and the bad times. True friends won’t say one thing to your face and another behind your back; true friends have your best interest at heart; however, our best interest may not always be what we think is best for us. Thus, true friends will tell us the truth about ourselves whether we like it or. In fact saints we all need at least one true friend on earth, and it needs to be someone other than Jesus. We know that Jesus is a true friend but sometimes we need someone who is touchable, tangible and in our faces. A true friend will never willingly be out to hurt us.

King David thought he had a true friend as he spoke in (Psalm 55) only to discover that the friend he thought he had was not a friend at all. Here is what he said about the so called friend “For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him: But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance. We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company.” Thus, the friend that he thought he had was someone in the church; someone he fellowshipped with; someone he deemed to have known the Lord which crushed him. Saints of God true friends are hard to come by even in the church, therefore when you find one thank God for that true friend.

Behold The Man

May 7, 2013

(St. John 19:5) Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!

Never was there ever a truer statement from Pilate’s lips than calling Jesus “The Man”; for he is the man because it’s only in him where we find the solution to all of life’s problems. It’s only in him where we find life and life more abundantly, even when it seems as if all hell is breaking loose in our lives. At Jesus’ crucifixion the Roman Governor had it right when he said “Behold the Man” because he is the man among men, the King of kings, and the Lord of lord’s and I have no problem agreeing with that for he has certainly taught me how to be a man. Search the scriptures for in them, you too will find what it means to be a man or woman from his perspective.
