Biblical Commands For Husbands

November 19, 2013

Over the next week or two I want to share various commands given by God to husbands and wives. In an effort to keep it short it may take a week or two to complete. The first command God makes to a husband is found in (Eph 5:23) “For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the savior of the body.” God called the husband to be the head of the wife and because we are the head we are to lead by example. Thus, our wives ought to be able to depend on us; they ought to be able to rely on us. If nobody else prays for them or loves them, or has genuine concern for them, the one person they should know that does, is their husband…and there should be no doubt. As Christians we know Christ loves us, we know he cares for us, and we know he has prayed for us. Thus, he proved his love by dying for us. Therefore, if we are to be the head, and we are because God said we were, then we must ask ourselves: What kind of head are we? Are we the head as Christ defines it or are we a bobble head…all over the place.

Know What You Sow

November 11, 2013

Saints we must understand that we will grow what we sow. If we sow to the flesh then we will grow a life that is corrupted and led by sin. However, if we sow to the spirit we will grow fruit that produces everlasting life. Thus, it is important to know the seeds you are sowing in the garden of your heart. Apostle Paul said as much in (Gal. 6:8) “For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

Praise Will Bring Forth Increase

November 5, 2013

Saints of God, when we praise the Lord in sincerity it will eventually bring about blessings and increase in our lives. Thus, we need to learn how to praise God. It’s good that true praise to the Lord will bring about the physical blessings we need to sustain life, such as, continued shelter, wealth in our health, and maybe even receiving a few extra dollars that we wouldn’t have otherwise. However, there is an increase and blessing only God can give through our praise like peace of mind, love, the joy of the Lord, calm in the midst of the storms of life and faith to stand no matter what situation we find ourselves in. It is those spiritual blessings and increase that really keep us rooted and grounded in the ways of the Lord when we find ourselves in very difficult circumstances. “Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God even our God shall bless us (Psalm 67:5-6).”
