New Beginning

December 8, 2014

At the beginning of every year we make ourselves promises about how we are going to be different. We make what many call New Year’s resolutions. Some of the resolutions we make are things such as losing weight or getting in better shape, or learning to do better with our finances or changing something in our lives spiritually. But, for many, these promises we make often don’t make it through January before they are broken. We know this is true in many ways because the first month of the year at any gym it’s packed but around February you begin to see the faithful faces that you always see throughout the year and the promise keepers are long gone. Child of God if we are going see the promises we have made to ourselves and our God come to past we are going to have to have (Discipline) to see this thing through.

Very often, the difference between the haves and the have not’s is discipline. The difference between those who will see their promises, and resolutions fulfilled are those who will discipline themselves to see it come to past. Discipline is self control; it’s a prescribed order of conduct or a pattern of behavior which puts us in a position to win. Real discipline will cause you to put a plan on paper and follow it. Real discipline will cause you to get up and go to the gym when you don’t feel like it. It will cause you to cut that credit card in half when you know that handling finances has been a problem for you. It will cause you to push back from that table and eat the right things when losing weight is your goal. It will cause you to pray and seek God through his word more when spiritual growth is your goal. The days of just saying we are going to do better are over. If we are going to see the promises of our New Year come to past we must be disciplined enough to do the work.

God Bless You
